Lucioles et tempete (Videos)

(Click on READ MORE to access the videos, and watch them FULL SCREEN) Storm and fireflies over the land. After eight years living in this area of southern Ohio, I got used to fireflies. We do not have them where I'm from. But the new place we bought is the Fireflies Kingdom. What you see here is nothing compared to the actual beauty of it. I tried to capture it, at the time when they rise from the ground. And the storm came. The following unedited videos are the best I could do. Then it got too dark for the camera, and that's when the show starts. The fields and the tress are shining and sparkling with firefly fire as I write those words. And the thunder is growling.

It's green again!

(Click on "Read More" to see the photos) April 20th. Sick for a month, dealing with migraines as the consequence of a spinal tap. I have been back on my feet for a couple weeks now. It snowed a couple days ago. As soon as the sun decided to start shining again, I jumped out of the house to get busy with all the outside stuff I couldn't wait to work on. Taking care of the yard, changing the oil on the mower and cutting the grass. Blades on 4. I changed the front grille of the truck. It went from Chrome-Douche to Black-Cool. I finished the range and installed the steel plates. Red on green. Mowing the grass, truck and shooting range. Am I becoming ... 'murican? The cats don't care. And I don't care either. I am just documenting.

This is blurry. This is shot from the window of the truck while driving somewhere between two worlds. The local folks know this place well, they drive by often. The roof says "ET Come Home! Youtube Michael Brumfield! Brumfield Station / Mike's Art Gallery!" I did what the roof says, and discovered the unique universe of a man with a big heart. The sincere weirdness of some touches me deeper than the boring normality of most. Another perfect exemple of what I mean when I say that there is no other place like this in the world. I keep telling myself that I have to stop by someday. The yellow chair seems welcoming.

The Red Hour

The last week of 2017

2017 / Recap Part 01

Click on Read More to see the photos.   ---  Since we moved to the new house, sometime at the beginning of 2017, Whitney and I have been awfully busy. We have been slowly changing things to slowly make this house ours, and it looks very different today than it did when we walked in for the first time. There is still so much we want to do, even if we loved every bits of it on the day we bought it. Those random photos are mostly cellphone shitty pictures of moments from that first year. - The House, viewed from the front yard. - The Front yard from the house, on a shiny summer day - The Fields around the house, with the "Red barn". - The fields from the road, with a storm hovering over the area. The top of the trees visible on that ph...
